Sew in Style!

I have so enjoyed the help of my mom while here in CA in the sewing department!

I must say we make a pretty good team...I come up the the ideas and she does the execution with some of my help (or lack there of)! It has been great because she has been able to put her touches on Miss Briggsley's room from 3000 miles away!

Remember this horrible print for the glider....

All torn up! ;O) Glad to see that go!!!

Then there was a bit of this and that...

Of course I am not going to show any finished products just yet ;O) Gotta keep the suspense! I cannot wait to get started on her room when I get home!! I made a trip to Ikea to get some decorations as well as curtains that we spruced up ;O) Nick is dinishing up staining her glider while I am gone and getting things organized. We will pick out paint colors and get her room painted when I get home before heading to VA for 2 weeks!!! The crib has been bought & we are planning on getting the dresser soon as well! Oh I sure hope the image I have in my head of our daughters room comes out just like I see it!!!

Thanks grandma for all your help in Briggsley's room and of course attempting (once again) to get me sewing ;O)

23 Weeks!

Baby girl is still around the size of a papaya...

Your baby's got a while to go before her lungs will be ready for air and is practicing her "breathing" on the amniotic fluid—sucking it in and out of her lungs. Other highlights this week:

Fat production is in overdrive at this point (for the baby, not you! Well, OK, maybe for the baby and you). Your baby will basically double in weight over the next four weeks! You'll be happy to know the same won't apply to you.

Your Mini is starting to look more like a newborn as her skin becomes less see-through. Her body is looking more proportional now, although her head is still kinda big compared to her cute little body.

Your baby is about 11½ inches long and weighs 1 pound, or about the length and weight of a Harry Potter book.

22 Weeks!

Baby's now the size of a papaya (this size for the next few weeks)
Baby's settling into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop.

Your Mini's hands have grown bigger and stronger and the nerve endings in her fingers have developed her sense of touch. She's in there testing out her newfound abilities by touching her face and grabbing the umbilical cord. Other cool developments:

You're already raising a little Einstein. Your baby's brain is developing at a clip this week and will continue to do so until she's five years old (so load up on the Omega 3)!

Baby's hair is now a short, bright white crop (Billy Idol, eat your heart out!). No matter what color it will end up—red, blonde, black—all babies' hair lacks pigment at this point.

Your baby has started growing taste buds and may be able to detect strong flavors in the amniotic fluid. If you could see inside, you might catch her sticking out her tongue for a taste and then grimacing, a sign that perhaps you should chill on the chili powder.

Your baby now weighs almost a pound and measures almost 11 inches from her head to her heel, which is how the Stretch Armstrong in your uterus will be measured from here on out. Up 'til now your baby's legs were curled tight up against her torso, so she was measured from her head to her bottom (or crown to rump) and not head to toe. This week your mini is about as long as a package of Oreos and as heavy as a large bag of tortilla chips. Who's hungry?

Planes are for the birds!

Just now having a chance to blog about my trip out to CA. On Tuesday I boarded a plane to Chicago that had a short layover and then was off to Denver to drop some people off and pick some new ones up & then FINALLY to Sacramento! Goodness it was a long trip! The trip was made even longer with a tornado warning in Denver, so we had an hour and a half delay! Briggsley wasn't too happy with the plane rides she was all over the place and kicking mommy hard!

I love being out here and visiting all my family & friends but this time in particular seems hard, I suppose it is because of the princess in my belly and knowing that Daddy isn't there at the end of the day to rub my belly and talk to her. That doesn't mean Grandmas hasn't gotten her fair share in ;O) Briggsley did some moving and shaking for her last night and she got to feel her as well as we both got to SEE her! It was so weird to see that little bounce on my tummy!

Tomorrow afternoon Grandma and Great-Grandma will get a proper introduction to the princess via ultrasound! I cannot wait plus we get a dvd, so be on the look out!!

I am looking forward to spending some time with family over the next few weeks as well as my super early shower on Saturday! OH goodness I hope I have room to bring back all of her goodies!!

K time for a chocolate chip cookie.

42 incher

I totally forgot to post this last weekend!!

Nick (hubby) and I were out yard saling Saturday when hubby ran across his very own gold mine. This older man was getting rid of his 42 inch tv...well more like giving it away for free! Of course hubs couldn't keep his hands off and brought it home. The gentleman said that there were vertical lines o half the tv that would pop up every now and then, he never took it in to get it repaired just bought a new one since it would be "easier" (aww the perks of yard saling it in the wealthiest section of Louisville) Nick made his mind up that it would be an easy fix and enlisted this pregnant momma to help move the giant tv to the SUV (arrgh.)

After a morning of good finds we get home and first things first drags the giant box into the house & he hooks the tv up. First and foremost this thing is huge! We have a 42' in the living room now but the side speakers on this thing makes it look massive!! TV worked great for a while then finally these infamous lines pop up. He tinkers around in the back for a while attempting to fix it, all the while I am asking what we are going to do with it. He then replies he wants to put it in the baby's room so we can watch movies with her. He is off his rocker!! There is no freaking way!! What does he think he is going to turn her room into his very own movie theater?!?

He still hasn't fixed the darn thing and today is the deadline for it to be moved from the living room floor!!

I am not going to bust his bubble but it's either going to storage, his parents, or craigslist!

21 Weeks!!

21 Weeks...more than half way there only 19 more to go!

Your baby now weighs about three-quarters of a pound and is approximately 10 1/2 inches long

Chances are good you're feeling someone performing a round-off back handspring in your uterus by now. Is there any other feeling this cool? Other highlights this week:

By now your baby looks like a mini-version of what she'll look like when she's born. All her facial features are formed and hair is growing on her head. She's even acting like a baby and will occasionally suck her thumb or yawn. Aww ...

Baby's heartbeat is getting stronger and can be heard using a good old-fashioned stethoscope. Ask for a listen at your next prenatal visit! By 21 weeks, fetal bone marrow starts making blood cells—previously done by the liver and spleen. This may not sound that exciting, but it's good news.

The amniotic fluid that has been cushioning your little bean now serves another purpose: Your baby uses it to "practice" chowing down. Yes, it sounds gross (as many aspects of pregnancy do), but it's an important step for your baby toward being able to chow down in the real world. Your baby has been swallowing amniotic fluid for a while now, but now the intestines are finally developed enough that she's absorbing small amounts of sugars from it. And let's face it, being able to effectively digest sugar is important at every stage of life.

Hi ya Daddy!!

Last night while laying in bed waiting for Nick to get home from work I felt Briggsley moving around quite a bit! At one point I even looked down at my tummy to see if it was moving. As soon as daddy laid down he put his hand on my tummy. I told him about the kicks that have seemed to get harder with each passing day, she is getting so strong. A few minutes later I felt a nice strong kick. I said nothing. A few seconds later he asked, "Was that her?" I turned my head and looked at him with a giant smile and nodded yes! The look on his face was priceless he was so ecstatic!! I am so happy she finally said hi to daddy! I had given her plenty of talking's too, now I know it didn't go in one ear and out the other ;o)

Mommy Hair

Some of you know that I am a cancer survivor and some of you do not. I am coming up on my 6 month mark and a lot of the hair that I lost was growing back and not looking so great under the dead looking hair that survived chemo and radiation (I lost pretty much from my ears down in the back, so I had all the top stuff to cover the bald spots) Anyways the point is my hair was looking a bit ugh shall we say less than great. I really wanted to keep it long, but it just wasn't going to happen. So yup I have that ever so fashionable soccer mom look now, pretty fitting I would say ;O)

Work in progress

I have started fixin' up the glider that I scored at a yard sale! First things first was to get to sanding. I have yet to finish the whole thing. Just the top part and seat.

I decided to take a break when I looked down and saw this mess!!

I will probably finish it up and get it stained by Tuesday. I want to have it all ready for when I come back from CA so that I can see the finished product with the slipcovers my mom is making!

I had to make some quick patterns and take some measurements. So I used newspaper and a sharpie ;o)

Nick and I headed to JoAnns this morning with our 50% coupon in hand to pick up some fabric for the slipcovers. I really wanted white chenille and he wanted this stuff called soft and fluffy. I won of course ;O)

I cannot wait to finish this little baby up and see it in all it's cost us less than $30 glory!!!!
