No Such Thing

I have now ran across a few people on blogs or websites or whatever even scientists who say that there is no such thing as cravings. Ok so I would like to ask these people then why the heck did I ask my husband for Fish sticks last week and I absolutely cannot stand the things nor do I really like fish!?! Such fools ;o)

Can I also please vent on a few more things.

Gender?

Ok so the topic of gender has come up recently with several people. Nope, don't have a gut feeling. All the Old Wives Tales says its a girl. Yup, from the ring/needle on a string to the Chinese predictor. Most of my family as well as Nick's are thinking blue. I love the little girls name we picked and recently my heart melted when I saw this little girls bedding I found even more than the bedding that I fell in love with that was gender neutral. So maybe those are little signs? Who knows!!!

I have told DH that we could pay $30 and get one of those Intelli-Gender piss testers and he said nope. We are going to a Baby Fair at a local hospital in a few weekend where there will be lots of vendors so I am hoping to find a coupon for 1/2 price 3d u/s or something! I need to just see when our gender sonogram will be scheduled (I know around 20 weeks) but maybe I can convince them a little earlier since baby is measuring little further and I will be going to CA so closely after my u/s. We shall see if I can do a little sweet talking ;O)

Here is a little tidbit someone posted on one of the message boards I am on, thought it was pretty interesting ;O)
"One of the earliest written records of a urine-based pregnancy test can be found in an ancient Egyptian document. A papyrus described a test in which a woman who might be pregnant could urinate on wheat and barley seeds over the course of several days: “If the barley grows, it means a male child. If the wheat grows, it means a female child. If both do not grow, she will not bear at all.” Testing of this theory in 1963 found that 70 percent of the time, the urine of pregnant women did promote growth, while the urine of non-pregnant women and men did not. Scholars have identified this as perhaps the first test to detect a unique substance in the urine of pregnant women, and have speculated that elevated levels of estrogens in pregnant women’s urine may have been the key to its success."

Good Finds!

I headed out to some yard sales on Saturday with some friends! Ericka is expecting in August and Amy has a 13 month old. It was so much fun looking at all the baby stuff! Amy was a huge help when Ericka and I both would hold up random weird looking baby items with puzzled looks on our faces. I scored a few things that were actually on my registry!! I also got a few maternity clothes!!

My mom on the other hand was busting at the seams to buy something. She called me from CA about the time all the yard sales were ending here complaining that she wanted to buy stuff & couldn't because we were still unaware of the sex. *Holy run on sentence) As we were discussing this she ran across a Graco Quattro Tour Stroller that was in "mint" condition! She scored it for a a Jackson! What a score!! Here is the pic she sent:

We initially were just looking for a jogging stroller and a lightweight one for quick trips. I am not a fan of the travel stroller...but I suppose you cannot pass that up for $20! So I probably won't be getting a jogging stroller unless I find that one horribly hard to push! We scored our brand new Chicco Keyfit car seat for a measly $50 and in stores it is $190!! So I must say $70 for our stroller & car seat (well we only paid the $50) not too shabby!!!!

I cannot wait to find out the sex to tear some yard sales up with the girls again!! Thankfully we have all summer!!!!

14 Weeks

Think of it this way: You're a third of the way through and baby's a third of the way cooked. Now that the "big stuff" (like skeletal and organ development) is taken care of, your baby starts a period of rapid brain growth, fat buildup and detail work. Highlights this week include:

* Your baby now has fingerprints! Book 'em, Danno! Believe it or not, he actually created them himself while swimming around in the amniotic fluid. As he moved his hands, the skin on the tips of his fingers formed unique ridges and folds. That's why no one on earth has the same fingerprints, not even identical twins! Cool, right? Baby's arms are now in proportion to his tiny body, but his legs are still on the short size in comparison.

* Your baby continues to gain new and impressive skills such as practicing and controlling voluntary muscle movements (this will help him fling food across the room later in life). Your tiny dancer's movements are no longer the jerky, uncontrollable twitches of yore—he now moves with graceful control.

* Your baby now weighs about an ounce and is the length of a flip phone, or roughly 3 1/2 inches—he's tripled in size from a mere three weeks ago! Luckily, you haven't done the same.

We spilled the beans!!

We officially spilled the beans over the weekend to all of Nick's family as well as mine. I posted a blog with some of their reactions!! We had told our sets of parents a few weeks back and you can read that blog as well.

We told Nick' sister Aundrea who is also pregnant, her husband Wes, his brother Corey, his wife Bobbie, and Nick's grandparents at a family dinner. Nick wanted to say grace and at the end of grace he prayed for Aundre & Wes' little one and for me during my pregnancy! Everyone's faces were priceless!!

I met my sister at a park to visit and told her we needed to take a pic, then I popped the ultrasounds out of my shirt & showed here. She was thrilled and of course very surprised!!

I told my grandparents in CA via Skype and they were of course surprised!

So the picture above is how I told all of our friends via Facebook! I just posted this and pretty much let everyone figure it out!

So glad that everyone is off of mouth lockdown and we can all talk about it now!!

Officially!!

Today marks 13 weeks and 3 days-The official start to my 2nd trimester!!

Here is a bonus bump pic. It is a bare belly and I am sure you will see VERY few of these!!

13 weeks (a little late)

Your baby can make a fist and even suck his or her thumb this week—both skills that are über-cute during infancy ... and not so much at the age of 9. If you're really lucky, you might catch a glimpse of baby's thumb sucking on an ultrasound photo. That's a framer! Other exciting developments include:

Your baby's eyelids are fused shut to protect his eyes as they develop. His bones and skull are solidifying and soon itsy-bitsy ribs may appear. (Baby ribs! How cute is that?!) Baby's intestines are finally right where you want them—in his or her belly instead of poking out into the umbilical cord. Baby's tooth sockets are all loaded and ready to pop out baby teeth six or seven months after baby is born (causing baby a lot of pain and you a lot of lost sleep).

Who's that singing? Elton John? Could be your baby: His vocal cords and larynx are completed now.

Your baby-to-be now weighs about 20 grams and is nearly 3 inches long, or about the size of a Nutter Butter, covered in chocolate. OK, it doesn't have to be covered in chocolate, but isn't everything better that way?

We managed to secretly videotape my sister Danyell's reaction as well as Nick's sister Aundi' and his brother Corey and his wife Bobbie.

Tonight we told my Grandparents in CA over Skype and got that taped, if you can make it out! ENJOY!!! **P.S. the last one I am REALLY LOUD!!!**

Waterworks.

Nick and I have an ongoing list of baby names. Well more like I have had an ongoing list of baby names since we were engaged. There are a ton of names that I love and some I have fallen out of love with. Nick has really been into the baby naming business. He loved the 2 names that I loved and we thought for sure those would be our kids names one day. Well I suppose a lot has changed ;O)

Today while editing the list Nick was saying yay or nay to some of the names I thought of as well as throwing out some ideas of his own. I of course have a special name in mind and he put a little twist on it and I immediately knew THAT would be our girls name. CUE WATERWORKS. I balled. Call it mommas intuition but I just knew I loved it and so did Nick!! So YES we have a girls name picked as well as it narrowed down to a few boys names!! 1 still topping the charts!

If you are wondering what the name is going to be most of you will have to wait until s/he is here!! Sorry 27 weeks to go!

Our Pot O' Gold!

Happy St. Patty's Day!! Grandpa Dan found out today that well, he will be a Grandpa!!! We were so excited to tell him and show him the u/s pictures!! I also sent out a text to a few select people who we would not be seeing or talking to on Easter w/ G Baby's u/s pic on it saying we found our Pot O' Gold! Too bad we can't cash it in until September 25th!! Everyone is really excited. I wish we could just shout it at the rooftops but we both really want to tell family in person as much as we can and if we cannot in person then on Skype when everyone is together! So we are waiting until Easter!

On another note. I read that at 13 weeks baby can start hearing outside the womb. I have been been talking to him/her but I think it is time to start singing and reading to our Little One. A trip to the store is in order to pick up Goodnight Moon!

NT Scan 12wk 4 days

This morning Nick and I headed to Dr. Brown's office to get the Nuchal Translucency screening for the baby. I was pretty nervous going into the appointment but had faith that our little G baby was healthy! We were able to see baby's heartbeat at a strong 162bpm! Baby G is pretty stubborn and likes his/her sleep. Baby never really got into a perfect position to get the neck fold measurement. However, after I got up and used the restroom he/she was on the move and got into a decehttp://www.blogger.com/nt position. The tech said she was not concerned at all and if she were she would schedule another time for us to come in to get the scan done. We are obviously not concerned with Down Syndrome but of course wanted to make sure our little G baby was developing perfectly. We got to see both legs & arms and organs right where they are supposed to be. The crown to rump measurement of our little sprout was 67.7 meaning baby is measuring a little ahead at 13 weeks 1 day. They aren't changing my due date though since it is still within a week...humph kind of wish they would haha then I would be that much closer to 2nd tri! Tehehe

We are so very excited to start announcing to more family & friends only 18 more days to go until Easter!!

After the scan I had a quit checkup with Dr. Brown and she said weight, bp, urine sample, and bloodwork all looked great! :O)

Here are some shots of our little Sprout!

Nick also managed to get a sideways video :O)

My next appointment is April 14th. Nothing exciting there. Our gender screening should be May 12th. Hopefully sooner :O) I am already crossing fingers baby give us a great shot of "the goods"!
